Some things to remember that might help with the year ahead.

                Make sure books stay covered throughout the year.

                Any correcting mistakes you find please let me know. I am fully aware that I am not perfect.

If you are having a homework emergency you can call me at 714-9957, but when all else fails tell your child that you’re are going to do it your way and just write me note or do it their way and it will all be goodJ

Spelling: It is a two week process for each unit test. At the end of the two weeks there will be a spelling test and a voab. test.  There will be no spelling make-up tests, but there will be vocab. make-up tests.

Religion: The first quarter will be  Steps to Respect.  The rest of the year we will attempt to complete a ch. a week. The review pg. at the end of each ch. will be due Fri. It must be done in complete sentences. Review Key terms and Remember on the pg. facing the review pg. The extra credit is the bible verse at the top of the homework sheet.

Math: We will have a speed quiz every Monday and a 5 point quiz every Wed. based on the 5 problems we do every morning and on basic skills. We will attempt to master simple mult. and division up to 12’s.

Science: Each unit is broken up into chapters, which are broken into lessons. We will have quizzes on lessons and tests on chapters. Make sure to know the vocab., the Find Out at the start of each lesson, know the answers to the bold black check mark questions and review the summary at the end of each lesson

Social Studies: Each unit has chapters that are made up of lessons. We will have quizzes on the lessons and tests on the chapters.  Make sure you know the info under the red core lesson number, the main idea, review questions , and skillbuilder

English: We work on the basics and only have a workbook.  We will work on several types of paragraph writing as well.

Reading: Very different from 2nd grade. We move from learning to read to reading to learn. When you read with your child ask them to infer about what the characters and situations in the story. Every Thurs. review skill pg., vocab., and the comprehension pg. There will be a journal assignment that goes home on most Wed. Help them to create a well thought out paragraph.

Cursive: We work on this in class and do not start writing in cursive until the end of Dec. If you would like a cursive strip to keep at home just let me know.
